WordPress 4.6, which is scheduled to be released on August 16th, has a nice list of new features and fixes. Here’s a summary of what we know so far:
- Shiny Updates will be integrated into core. This means no more annoying “Bleak Screen of Sadness™” when installing or updating plugins and themes in WordPress and will streamline the update and install processes.
- Native fonts restored to WP Admin. No longer will WordPress use external fonts on the backend which will improve performance, especially for offline users.
- Improvements to the editor which will enhance recovery and detection of broken URLs. Also, TinyMCE is being updated to 4.4.0.
- Tweaks to the autosave system; hopefully this will mean less annoying messages about there being a newer version of your content when there isn’t.
- Tons of things developers will be interested in.

What musician do you think WordPress 4.6 will be named after? We’re hoping for one of the Marx brothers, and we don’t care that they didn’t play Jazz.
