Why Proper WordPress Maintenance Matters

It’s about more than just security.

I’ve been building websites for more than 15 years and one thing I’ve learned is that they are never done. There is always something to update and never enough time. You have to decide what’s more important, and often things like website maintenance get pushed to the back burner. That’s where Barrel Roll comes in.

We built Barrel Roll to be a simple solution to a common problem: you need to be sure your WordPress site stays up to date, properly backed up, and secure, but you don’t have the time or expertise to do that yourself. You know it’s important to do these things, but they just keep being postponed until one day you get a message telling you that your website has broken links, or a form doesn’t work, or it’s been hacked. Then you go into a panic trying to fix something you don’t fully understand and wish you could just get back to doing what’s important.

Barrel Roll was created to be your partner

More than just automated backups and updates, we provide WordPress tech support services to all of our clients. If a plugin isn’t working or you’re seeing an error message, just open a ticket and we’ll take a look. Responses are timely and in clear and simple English that anyone can understand.

Think of us as a trusted resource. When you have a question about your website, just ask. No need to spend hours Googling for answers or trying plugins that could break your site. Just send a message and we’ll let you know what we’ve seen work before and how to get it implemented for you. If we don’t have an answer, we’ll find one.

WordPress now powers 25% of all websites. According to WordPress’ own stats, 53.3% of installations aren’t running the latest major version. That’s tens of millions of websites that need attention, and who knows how many plugins have been neglected.

How Barrel Roll works

We offer three Membership Plans: Standard, Advanced, and Premium. Each gives you access to our stellar tech support team, automated off-site backups, WordPress core and plugin updates, and 24/7 security monitoring. Once you’ve signed up you’ll be charged for your first month and then renewed automatically every month after that. There are no cancellation fees and you can cancel, downgrade, or upgrade your plan at any time. You can read the full details of our refund policy here.

After joining you’ll receive an Email with a link asking you to give us some basic access information so we can connect to your site. We install a small plugin that we use to remotely manage your site and provide you with support. Sometimes we install a few other plugins as well, depending on your plan and needs. Once we’ve connected we do an initial assessment and take a complete backup of your site. Then we apply updates as needed and contact you if we have any questions. You can contact us as well if you have something specific you want us to look in to. At the end of each month you’ll receive a report showing all of the updates that were done. You can view and download your backups and reports at any time from your account on Barrel Roll.
